Once you have created your 3D PDF it will open up in Adobe Acrobat.  We are going to take a look at some of the features that were exported from Inventor.

The model tree –

1

Here you will see see all the parts, subassemblies and assemblies of the components that were exported from Inventor.

You will also see highlight color so that when you select a part in the Model Tree it will highlight in a color of your choosing.  You will also notice that the parts not selected become transparent.

2

When selecting a component in the Model Tree if you look at the panel below it you will see the properties of that component.

4

Above the model you will see a toolbar.  If you click on the drop down on the first button you will see that you have the following options for viewing the 3D model.

  • Rotate
  • Spin
  • Pan
  • Zoom
  • Walk
  • Fly

You also have the capability to measure in 3D and add 3D comments.

6

Above you can see the different ways you can view the model.

The 3D PDF also allows you to change the lighting for the scene.  If you  have created lights in the CAD model you will be able to use that light scenario as well.

8

You can also change the background color and if you don’t see the color you want for your background you can click on Other Color and then choose what you want from RED,BLUE, GREEN and HUE,SATURATION,LUMINANCE.

On the right side of the screen you will see more properties of the model like part no, designer and revision.

You are also able to change the model view ie left, right, top front etc.

At the bottom you have the the parts list of the assembly which I think is pretty cool.

So there you have it, a great addition to a great package.
