7 Import Model into New Project

A Revit file is exported to .dae file which is then added to the Lumion library and inserted to the new Lumion project. When exporting DAE files using Revit the user has full control over where the files are saved to, and when inserting DAE content into the Lumion library one can browse to these files as needed.

Note that a .dae file is created and a Textures directory with images written to it. I exported two projects to DAE format (to the same directory) and discovered the texture images for both projects are located in the same “…/textures/” subdirectory.

Before the model is placed into a scene, Lumion requires it to be loaded into the default directory, after which it is available for placement into any scene of one’s choice.

As expected, the model has now been added to the library in the default directory and the three files that define it are highlighted below.

8 Export (Save) Scene to Non-default Directory

I save (export) the scene under a new name and, using Lumion Pro, to some other directory (not the default).
