5 Benchmark Test
When Lumion is started it automatically performs a benchmark test (how good is the pc rig for running Lumion). The results of this test is saved in the root directory of the default folder, “C:\Users\paul\Documents\Lumion 5\”.
Some files are created in the subdirectory “…\Library\”
And yet some more in “…\Scenes\”
Now that these files have been generated, we can observe what happens when we create scenes, and how Lumion manages them.
6 New Project
Consider when a new blank scene is opened and saved to the default directory and Lumion closed.
Four new files are created in the Scenes subdirectory. Two describe the model that was saved (Filename = “My_First_Scene with Extensions “.spr” and “.sva”), and because the program was closed immediately afterwards, two files of the same size but with different filenames (Filename = “AutoSaveOnQuit” with Extensions “.spr” and “.sva”). Clearly these files are automatically generated from the last scene to be open when Lumion is closed. No other files were added to the default directory or its subdirectories.
When Lumion is now opened the choice exists to open either of these two scenes.
Now when this file is opened and save again, it is saved as “Version 2”. Note it I still saved under the exact same filename, hence if the user makes a mental note of the version they last worked on, a different version would indicate that a file has altered since they last worked on it.
Scenes to start projects from are saved in the installation directories, together with the sample house models and sample scenes. All the default content is also located here.
