Many designers focus on the minutia before the design is ready and spend an enormous amount of time modifying their models when they need to be adjusted to revisions.
When creating assemblies in Inventor, traditionally you would use Constraints until Joints came along. Whenever anything new is introduced into a workflow it can be very disruptive as you are comfortable with your current workflow.
In my opinion, the intelligent use of AutoCAD relies on using the layer structure and tools to implement a standard throughout a project. Whether one does this within a company workflow, or to comply with an imposed standard on a project, a good way to make a start is with an existing standard. They may not include all the layers you need to complete the project, but they do have the basic structure you need to make a start.
In this video we will be creating a residential truss that fits underneath an existing roof. We’ll be using the Revit Truss tool in the Structure tab.
Inventor has some great tools (constraints and joints) in giving components the ability to interact with each other as real world components.
